H2W2 Concrete Step
Barrier is the Highways Agency's preferred system for central reserve
vehicle containment.
We can slipform various V channel profiles and can also
include the trimming of the sub-base simultaneously. Slot drains are a
faster, more economical solution to pre-cast units and our in-house
fabrication team can advise on mould construction to include integral
kerbing.
In recent
years the traditional kerb laying process has been changed due to the HSE
enforcing stricter manual handling regulations. It is now the norm to see
kerbs lifted into place using vacuum grabs on fork lifts or excavators.
This has lead to a significant increase in cost with a reduction in output
making slipforming kerbs a viable option. Due to
the linear nature of kerb laying the slipform
process lends itself to the task in hand. The mould on the paver can be
constructed to form any kerb profile from bull nose kerbs to trief kerbs each being formed with a backing as the
kerb is formed. This completes the process in one operation saving time and
as the backing is formed with the mould there is no wastage of material.
Output for slipforming kerbs will vary depending
on the kerb profile being formed however a linear run in excess of 400m
could be easily achieved in a single shift.
